Dog board and train, also known as "immersion training" or "train away," is a comprehensive and intensive dog training program where the dog stays at a training facility or with a professional trainer for a specified period. During their stay, the dog undergoes daily training sessions, behavior modification, and socialization under the expert guidance of experienced trainers.
Choosing board and train over traditional training offers several advantages:
1. Intensive and Consistent Training: Board and train provides an immersive training experience, ensuring your dog receives consistent, daily training without gaps or interruptions.
2. Expert Guidance: Professional trainers with extensive experience work closely with your dog, addressing specific behavioral challenges and adapting training methods to suit their individual needs.
3. Focused Learning Environment: Being away from home and distractions allows dogs to focus solely on training, accelerating their learning process.
4. Socialization Opportunities: Board and train programs often include supervised play and interactions with other dogs, promoting better social skills and confidence.
5. Efficient Results: Intensive training can achieve faster results compared to traditional weekly sessions, especially for behavioral issues or advanced training goals.
6. Personalized Attention: Trainers can tailor the training program to your dog's unique personality, learning style, and challenges.
7. Convenience for Owners: Board and train relieves owners of the responsibility of daily training, especially for those with busy schedules.
8. Behavior Modification: Board and train is particularly beneficial for addressing behavioral issues like anxiety, fear, or aggression, where a structured and controlled environment is essential.
9. Consistency in Training Methods: By entrusting your dog to a professional, you ensure they receive consistent training using positive reinforcement techniques.
10. Support for Long-Term Success: After completion of the program, trainers typically provide follow-up sessions and support to ensure a smooth transition back home and maintain the newly learned behaviors.
Ultimately, the decision between board and train and traditional training depends on your dog's individual needs, your schedule, and your training goals. Board and train is an excellent option for those seeking intensive, efficient, and expert-guided training to shape a well-behaved and happy canine companion.
Our highly sought-after 3-week board and train program is priced at $3,600, attracting dog owners eager to enhance their furry companions' obedience skills. This program is particularly popular among parents who have already established a foundational understanding of commands such as sit, down, and kennel training with their dogs.
Throughout this comprehensive training, most dogs (please remember, every dog is unique, and results may vary) will return home with newfound skills, including Sit/Down and stay until released, barrier training, remaining on their climb (also known as place) until released, "with me" (heel training), and some may even advance to off-leash training. Additionally, we strive to instill good behavior in public spaces.
It's essential to acknowledge that every dog is different, and outcomes will vary accordingly. Our dedicated trainer will remain in regular contact with you, providing updates on your dog's progress throughout the 3 weeks. They will also offer insights into the potential results your dog may achieve by the program's end.
As every dog's journey is unique, we understand that training programs may need to be tailored to meet specific desired results. We are flexible and willing to modify the program's duration to ensure your dog reaches the desired level of obedience and behavior. Your satisfaction and your dog's success are at the core of our commitment to you.
Our comprehensive 4-week board and train program is priced at $4,400, offering an extended training period to further enhance your dog's skills. Similar to the 3-week program, this option is ideal for pet parents who haven't had the opportunity to focus on basic obedience with their dogs. It is also well-suited for those dealing with behavioral issues, such as aggression or high-energy dogs, who may benefit from additional training time.
For dogs with aggression issues, we emphasize that 4 weeks is the minimum recommended duration. However, we highly recommend the 6-week program for more advanced cases of aggression.
During the 4-week program, our expert trainers dedicate ample time to honing your dog's obedience skills and addressing behavioral challenges, ensuring a well-rounded and well-behaved canine companion. Your dog's success and transformation are our top priorities, and we're committed to providing the best possible training experience for both you and your furry friend.
Our transformative 6-week program is priced at $6,500, specifically designed for dogs that require extensive foundational work and those dealing with significant behavioral issues. This program is the ideal choice for dogs with no prior obedience training or those facing challenges such as resource guarding, aggression towards other dogs, or aggression towards humans.
We understand that some pet parents may find themselves at their wits' end with their dogs, contemplating rehoming as a last resort. At Pierson Dog Training, we aim to be your dog's last-ditch effort for rehabilitation and a chance at a harmonious relationship.
Our dedicated team is committed to equipping you with every tool and skill needed to transform your beloved furry companion. Of course, transparency and communication are essential to us at Pierson Dog Training. Our dedicated trainers will keep you informed about your dog's progress on a weekly, and even daily basis. Through regular updates, we aim to provide you with a realistic and clear understanding of where your dog stands in their training journey and what type of results you can expect.
While we always strive for excellence and the best possible outcomes, we recognize that each dog is unique, with their own individual challenges and strengths. As a result, results may vary from one dog to another. However, you can rest assured that our team will work tirelessly to ensure that your furry companion receives the highest level of care, guidance, and expertise throughout their training experience.
At Pierson Dog Training, our commitment to you and your dog's well-being is unwavering. We look forward to being your trusted partners in this transformative journey, supporting you every step of the way, and celebrating the remarkable progress your beloved pet will achieve. Together, we'll create a strong and harmonious bond, setting the foundation for a lifelong relationship built on trust and mutual understanding.
At Pierson Dog Training, each day's schedule adapts to the training progress of our canine companions. Nevertheless, morning and evening routines remain consistent to ensure their well-being and comfort. As the Owner and Lead Trainer, Shane works with approximately 6 dogs at a time, striving to synchronize their training stages. The day commences around 7 am, where each dog spends 45 minutes to an hour on a 15 ft long line in our spacious backyard. During this time, they enjoy play, access to water, and a chance to relieve themselves while remaining separate from other dogs.
Inside the training room, Shane diligently cleans kennels, training floors, and pet cots while preparing breakfast. Additionally, he engages two dogs at a time on the treadmill for 30-minute exercise sessions, rotating and providing each dog with designated "climbs" for rest afterward. Once all the dogs have exercised and had their meal, they rest for an hour before commencing their first training session of the day.
The training sessions vary based on the dogs' progress in the program. If they are in the early stages, Shane conducts 10-20 minute one-on-one sessions with each dog in a round-robin fashion before giving them another one-hour break. For more advanced dogs, ready for social training in public settings, he starts with a brief 10-minute session before loading them into individual kennels in the truck. He then takes them to crowded downtown locations, where each dog participates in 10-15 minute training sessions, two to three times.
Regardless of their training level, each dog receives about 7-8 individualized training sessions per day, totaling 80-160 minutes, surpassing the average board and train programs in Washington.
Nighttime routines include an hour on the line at around 6 pm, while Shane prepares food and medication, refills water, and ensures their comfort. Following dinner in their kennels, each dog heads out one last time around 9 pm before being gently settled in for the night.
At Pierson Dog Training, our goal is to provide your beloved companions with exceptional care and training to nurture a lifelong bond and well-mannered behavior.
At Pierson Dog Training, we utilize a combination of positive reinforcement and low-stimulation correction methods for behavior modification. Shane, our experienced trainer, employs positive reinforcement techniques with high-reward treats to encourage and reinforce desirable behaviors in the dogs.
For leash training, Shane utilizes a Herm Sprenger prong collar that is individually fitted for each dog, along with an e-collar. These tools are used to provide gentle corrections, ensuring clear communication with the dog during the training process. In conjunction with these tools, high-reward treats are given to further motivate and encourage the dogs in their learning journey.
We understand that every dog is unique and may respond differently to various methods, which is why we approach each training session with patience and adaptability. Our ultimate goal is to create a positive and effective training experience for both the dog and the owner, fostering a strong and lasting bond between them.
Upon completing our board and train program, you'll receive two private 1-hour sessions in addition to the hour-long session during drop-off. These private sessions can be utilized within a 6-month period after training, allowing you ample time to reinforce and fine-tune your dog's newly acquired skills.
Even after the program, we are dedicated to your success, providing unlimited support through phone and text to address any questions or concerns that may arise. Our primary objective is to equip you with the best tools to continue building on your dog's training effectively.
It's essential to remember that board and train programs set the foundation for your dog's training, and their skills become solidified within the structured environment of our facility. Once back home, your dog may test boundaries, requiring some initial work from you during the first few weeks. Staying consistent with the methods we teach during drop-off and private lessons will enable you to build your skills and confidence, ensuring the training your dog underwent remains effective and lasting.
Our team is here to support you every step of the way, ensuring a successful transition and a harmonious relationship with your well-trained and happy canine companion.
To ensure a successful board and train dog training program, we have certain requirements in place to prioritize the safety and well-being of all the dogs in our care:
1. Up-to-Date Rabies Shot: All participating dogs must have a current and up-to-date rabies vaccination. Proof of vaccination will be required before the start of the program.
2. Signed Waivers and Understanding: Pet parents are required to sign waivers acknowledging their understanding and acceptance of the program's terms and conditions, including liability and health considerations.
3. Consult Call with Lead Trainer: Prior to enrollment, a consult call will be scheduled with our Lead Trainer, Shane. This call allows us to understand your dog's unique needs and temperament to determine which program best suits their requirements.
4. Providing Sufficient Food and Medication: Pet parents must provide enough food and medication to cover the entire training course. It's essential to maintain consistency in their diet and medical regimen during their stay with us.
5. Training Tools: Before drop-off at the end of training, pet parents will be informed of the appropriate training tools necessary for continued training, such as an e-collar and pet cot. An email will be sent one week prior to the end of your training with details and recommendations to ensure you are well-prepared.
By adhering to these requirements, we create a safe and conducive environment for your dog's training journey. At Pierson Dog Training, we prioritize individualized attention, compassion, and effective training techniques to ensure the best possible experience for both you and your beloved furry companion. Our goal is to empower you with the necessary tools and knowledge to nurture a strong and positive relationship with your dog, built on trust and respect.
